Lengthy holiday letters seem to be a thing of the past. Nowadays, I’ve heard them categorized as narcissistic, but there was a time – before social media – where they were commonplace. A time to catch loved ones up on your year; both high and low points. Reading holiday letters from my older relatives (the… Continue reading Happy 2020!

An ode to my quiet partner
Justin is the sock to my foot; closer fitting than a shoe, he envelops me. Throughout the beginning of our relationship (we started dating when I was 18), he listened patiently and scoffed at my self-diagnosed infertility. I waited his arbitrary seven years which he believed would deter divorce and we married. After fighting to… Continue reading An ode to my quiet partner
Another strike against ticks…!
I don't like ticks. I don't mind spiders, snakes, bugs, etc., but I've never liked ticks. I find them gross and freaky. Last Tuesday, my sweet baby boy got bit at daycare at water day. They called Justin and me and stated that they couldn't take it out as it's considered a medical procedure. So,… Continue reading Another strike against ticks…!
The Cave
Being in the cave as my dad so fondly refers to caring for my children. It reminds me of the pit from Parks and Rec and more importantly the song that Andy/Mouse Ray performed: https://youtu.be/-vMpfbuI9FY The cave's gotten a lot bigger and a lot brighter as we get used to everything. The babies are both… Continue reading The Cave
Where did the time go? Also, the longest twelve weeks of my life.
I just can't believe they will be twelve weeks old on Monday. Isabelle and Carter are the sweet new loves of our lives. I have been too busy to write, but things are going well. Not without incident, of course, but we are feeling our way through things. We switched Isabelle's formula to the most… Continue reading Where did the time go? Also, the longest twelve weeks of my life.
8 week old babies
Our babies are 8 weeks old this week and are doing well. I have been hesitant to use the word colic, but they sure do cry a lot. I remind myself that it is the way they express themselves and work hard to comfort them. This week I'm back to work part time and my… Continue reading 8 week old babies
Almost 6 weeks
Isabelle is 8lbs 9oz and Carter is 6lbs 13oz. For now, we are cleared of weight checks! Isabelle is off the 22 calorie formula as she moved up another 20% on the weight chart! Carter is holding steady at 3%. Hoping he continues making gains and maybe jumps up like his big sis. Funny pics… Continue reading Almost 6 weeks
Busy Izzy
Isabelle has opinions. Loud ones. She can only express them in one way, so that's why after the 6pm feeding, we spend a lot of time soothing, bouncing, and snuggling, often time with no break in the tears. The time before "bedtime" is very hard for them. They're still fed every three hours, but 9pm… Continue reading Busy Izzy
What no one tells you (and it’s all going to be okay).
Motherhood. I'm almost 5 weeks in to having humans on the outside of the womb. They don't currently do much other than sleep, eat, poop, pee, and cry. I'm anxiously awaiting a "social smile" but know that it could be a little. Usually an average of 6 weeks for a full term baby, I could… Continue reading What no one tells you (and it’s all going to be okay).
Weight Update!
As we are hanging out on this glorious Saturday, I thought I would send some pictures and share some updates. Their weights and eating have been a big challenge for us! Isabelle was born at 5lbs 11oz, and discharged from the hospital at 5lbs 4oz. Carter was born at 4lbs 10oz and discharged right around… Continue reading Weight Update!
